Cerritos College Swimming (2012): Qualified for the State Championships in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.58), and came in 19th place, after winning the South Coast Conference championships… Also competed in the state championships in the 3-meter diving competition after finishing in seventh place in the Southern California Championships… During the year, she also swam the 500-yard freestyle (6:21.76), 1000-yard freestyle (12:43.37) and 100-yard butterfly (1:08.07)…..

Cerritos College Water Polo (2012):
Named 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference… Appeared in 32 games and finished third on the team with 64 goals along with 11 assists and 42 steals… Her 64 goals on the season are the 10th most in school history, while her 108 career goals rank seventh on the school’s all-time list… Scored a season-high seven goals against Citrus College and had five goals and a career-high seven steals against Los Angeles Trade-Tech College… Also scored five times against Pasadena City College, while recording four goals against Fresno City College… Posted three steals against LA Trade-Tech and American River College… Scored three times in five other games…..

Cerritos College Water Polo (2011):
Named 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference… Played in 32 games and was fourth in the team with 44 goals with six assists and 37 steals… Scored a season-high four goals against Los Angeles Trade-Tech College, Citrus College and Santa Monica College… Also posted three goals in three other games… Had a season-high four steals against Pasadena City College and recorded two goals and three steals against Sierra College… Also had three steals against Long Beach City College and Rio Hondo College…..

Schurr HS:
Spent two seasons on the water polo and swimming teams… Selected as the swim team’s captain her sophomore year and also garnered the Coaches Award… Specialized in the 500-yard freestyle (6:04) and swam a leg of the 4x400-yard freestyle… Voted the water polo team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior and junior…..

Personal:
Most memorable moment was when she swam the 100-yard freestyle in under a minute and when she posted her best time in the 500-yard freestyle… Would like to transfer to either USC or UCLA and aspires to be a child  and family psychologist… Is the niece of Patty Cardenas, who played on the US water polo team that earned a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics and also played at USC… Hobbies include swimming… Nicknamed “Yuri”… Has two siblings – Christian (15) and Johnathan (9)… Is the daughter of Amado Vela and Nancy Solorzano… Born in Huntington Park, CA on July 13, 1993…..
